16 hours of backstitch later, I'm done Palm!
I've mentioned the story of this piece several times, but a quick recap: When I moved houses in July 2010 I brilliantly packed all my stash away and then had several hours of nothing to do. I also had a Dimensions kit available, so I started it. And then I unpacked everything I put Palm away. Then I participated in a UFO Round Robin and sent Palm
out. The ladies made such a
big change in it that I knew that a determined push could finish it off. Of course, it still look me a while to get around to finishing it, but I could never have done it without all the RR ladies! *hugs*
And because you can't make out much of the detail in that picture, here are some clickable close-ups:
Title | Palm |
Designer | Dimensions |
Start date | July 10, 2010 |
Finish date | July 12, 2012 |
Total time | No idea how many hours the RR contributed, but I put in 38.75 |
Fabric | 16 ct khaki aida |
Floss | As provided in the kit |

Being one born among palms and sandy beaches, I am likened to palms. I find them comforting. This is a gorgeous finished piece. Well done RR gang and you. (A bamboo styled frame would look fantastic with it maybe or something with a weave texture.) BRAVO!
It's lovely, Blu. I really like all the pretty greens in it. Grats to the RR ladies. Awesome!!!! And I agree with what Michele said about a bamboo frame. I think that would be awesome!! Well, if you can find one...
Wonderful finish! I think you'll appreciate sticking it out & finishing it for a long time to come :)
Great work!
And i love to see it when you have it framed.
Hugs Yvon.
I remember working on it for the UFO RR and it's great to see it finished. Congratulations
It's gorgeous! RR was a success!
Beautiful - congratulations!
Oh it is lovely...
Congrats on your finish.
If there's one thing I hate is backstitching... but the end result is so very worth it I think.
Looks great!!!
koodos to you and your RR ladies :)
Now onto the next project :)
Happy Stitching!
Melissa
A great stitched piece. Congratulations. What sort of happy dance do you do under a palm tree, I wonder? The Happy dance of the seven veils?
Congratulations on your beautiful finish!
It looks fabulous! Do you have a spot picked for it after framing??
Great finish ;)
It is amazing! Even better with the backstitch. I still don't know how you could of bared to pack it up. Then again I surprise myself when I keep finding things I have started.
Beautiful finish!
Your stitching looks so neat in your close-ups.
Beautiful job. Just caught up on the rest of the blog and I love the Dragon piece! Great finish on that too.
You've had a couple of great finishes with this and legends. Congratulations
Wow! It looks absolutely fabulous! Well done you, and everyone who helped.
Beautiful! I have that exact same kit I started years ago that I have yet to finish, so this is inspiring :)
