Only One Of Its Kind

for me anyway. I speak of the 15-sided biscornu.

Last August I started a freebie 15 sided blackwork biscornu. This was to be my travel project, but after 9 squares the weather grew too cold and it disappeared into the drawer. I finally finished off all the blackwork and then had to tackle the actual finishing.

Excellent assembly photos here and here. However even with these instructions I had a devil of a time.

Not sure if you can tell but the part where 5 sides connect doesn't come to a point, but a hole. I just can't seem to tighten it up. And let's not get into post-stuffing joining bit. And the fuzzy white bits!

It's cute as anything, but way too much work. This is going to be my one and only 15 sided biscornu. (Which takes the Just Nan 15 sided ones out of my future. And let's not get into their even more complicated looking pretties!)

TitleNot sure. I just call it the 15 sided Blackwork Biscornu.

Cool Piece!!!
I have been wanting to try the 15sided, maybe a freebie would be best to try first, huh??!!

It looks gorgeous! Personally, they always seemed too fiddly for me to want to try one, and the whip stitching through the back-stitched edges is my least favorite thing to do anyway. Congrats on conquering it!

Wow! What a finish! I doubt that I could ever figure out how to stitch it together myself--you did a great job...

That is so clever - can't imagine how hard it is to stitch on black though!

It is a gorgeous one of a kind. I admire your perserverance - I wouldn't even attempt it.

Very pretty! I agree though, I think they're far too much work for me to tackle.

I stitched this design too at the end of last year lol. I agree that the assembly part was quite finicky but it hasn't put me off the idea of doing another 15 sided some day

I love blackwork but I've never done any 15 side biscornu.. it seems quite a difficult task :p

Beautiful! But I can understand your decision. I'm learning that I don't like stitching biscornu. Finishing, yes. Stitching, maybe no.

Very pretty!

That's AMAZING - so pretty!! Totally worth the aggravation. I've seen a tutorial that uses a cotton fabric as a backer to prevent the stuffing from showing through... http://own-two-hands.livejournal.com/4186.html
