In Full Bloom

First finish of the year! And it's almost the end of the month!

Nora Corbett's Lily of the Valley, without wings, with the skin and hair converted and a modified headpiece. Original here.

The skin was easy, but the hair gave me some trouble. Details of the exact changes below, but there's a giant blue streak in her hair ;).

Originally the beads in her hair were yellow, but with the dye job that just looked weird so I changed them to blue and I truncated the headpiece ruthlessly.

The beads at the bottom of the flowers were a pale yellow, but all the pictures of the actual flower online seem to be pure white so I changed the beads. (I've never seen a lily of the valley in real life, but they seem really pretty). Of course, the white beads are from a previously unopened package, which means they are being cannibalized from some other project (no idea which), so it should be fun seeing if I have enough when that project rolls around XD.

Her toes! The back of my mind asks exactly what those beads are meant to be and how they stay in position, but the rest of me screams "Pretty!" and ignores that part of me.

Giant beads are really giant!

And some more pics:

Lily is beautiful! I really love the changes you made in skin tone and hair. I think that it sets off the beauty of the Lily of the Valley better. Lily of the Valley is one of my favorite flowers, here it can be seen in the forests and hillsides as well as in flowerbeds.

Hello from a new Follower :)

Gorgeous stitching on this piece. It has so many beads! But a beautiful result. I just finished the letter "J" by Nora Corbett. It was such a nice project. Now I'm ready to tackle a bigger Mirabilia.

She looks lovely. And I think it was a great idea to change the beads to white. I'll have to remember to do that.

We have lily of the valley around here in the spring. They last about two weeks in full bloom, and they smell wonderful. They are one of my most favourite flowers.

She's stunning! I like her much better without her wings. Lily of the Valley is the flower for those born in the month of May and I've often thought about doing this piece.
Congrats on your gorgeous finish!
