A Clowder of Cats

Yes, you read that right. A group of cats is properly a clowder. And here I thought nothing could beat a congregation of crocodiles.

This is Measi's Smoky Mountain Cats. I think it's by Sherry Vintson for Pegasus Originals Inc, but it isn't on their website.

As it arrived:

As it goes out

I added the top row of cats. I'm rather ambivalent about this piece. The monochrome blue was fun until it stopped being fun and then I just wanted to randomly stitch one of the cats in red.

On an unrelated note: every now and then I look at all the amazing photos that people stage and think "I should do that. Make it look nice." And then I try for about 3 photos, quit and post whatever looks semi-decent. Hopefully people are here for the stitching (and maybe my brilliant wit) and not for my artistic abilities ;)

I have been around a long time, but I have never heard the term clowder. Learn something new every day!

I like your work on the cats, and I agree the blue would wear on me too.

I also have photo staging envy. I would like to be better, but....

I come for the wit!

I think you should have gone for a red cat. :) I love the block stitching, until I get tired of it too. Sometimes it's nice not having to rethread and switch colors every few stitches. Then it gets boring. I guess that's why I have 20 wips.

I'm with you, all that blue would have made me go cross-eyed!

LOL @ you wanting to stitch a red cat. Definitely here for your sparkling wit!!! Great progress for you though. Even if you didn't enjoy it, you got a good bit done. I think one red cat would bring a lot to this piece, but it's up to Measi since it's her RR. Hope you've had a great week so far!!

And your pics always look great. :D

Great job!

And eh on staged photos. They are pretty, but I want a good look at the stitching, not the doily and knickknack behind it, you know?

Funny, I've just blogged the same thing about photos! I think for WIPS and large pieces a straight photo is best plus lots of closeups if it's beaded or special stitches. (I love Chatelaine closeups in particular!)
But for smalls and ornaments it does look nice when there's a little staging. My three cards weren't very exciting on their own!

Wow, that sure is a lot of blue. No wonder you wanted to add a red one! I'm not much good at artsy photos either so I stick to what I know lol.

That's a lot of blue to stitch and I can see why you'd want to throw some red in there. Love the cats though!

My favorite grouping noun is a "murder of crows"!

I do like the look of the cats, but it'd be a pain to stitch them!

laughing.....stitching a random red cat is probably something I would have daydreamed about as I went about the blues. Great job :)
