Baking brownies

The only "domestic" art I'm master of is the needle.
Self-acknowledged failure in the kitchen, I can boil noodles, make a grilled cheese sandwich and microwave any number of things. In a fit of madness I decided to make brownies. Before folks get excited this is brownies from a box (which I'm sure is some kind of sacrilege).
Anyway, the brownies are currently in the oven. Having followed the instructions on the box, the batter was very thick and I could only get about 2/3 into the pan. I'm currently eating the rest (and it's good!).
So my question is: how was I supposed to get all the batter in the pan? Unlike a cake mix this was really really thick and didn't flow...

Update:
Out of the oven

Had a few bites, and I swear I could feel my teeth rotting from all the sugar, and my dentist rubbing her hands in glee!

Clarification: I couldn't get all the batter out of my mixing bowl. It just got stuck everywhere.

They look really yummy! I love baking and I don't understand why you couldn't get more into the pan. Did you use a small pan? Like smaller than an 8x8?

Do you have a spatula? If you don't, you can find them in Target, Walmart, Dollar Store, etc. Spatulas allow you to scrape that last bit out of the bowl! Less to lick though! :(
Yours sure look delicious! Hmmmmmm..I may just have to go make some myself!

It's nice to know I'm not the only one who isn't Betty Crocker in the kitchen! The brownies do look good, though.

I love brownies from mixes. And a rubber spatula should help do the trick. You can get every last little bit of chocolate out with one of those. But licking the bowl is so much fun!

Definitely use a rubber spatula to get every last bit out. I, myself, am also on a chocolate high because yesterday at work two people brought in their birthday treats--some yummy, large brownies, and a brownie, cream cheese, cherry pie thing. Couldn't hurt either person's feelings--so I had both!

I love to bake, Blu--email me if you ever have questions :)

Ha ha ha, I've never made "homemade" brownies in my life. If it wasn't for box mixes we'd never have sweets. Except banana bread. I can make "real" banana bread, lol!

Scrape your bowl with a spatula to get the sticky leaving into your pan. Mash the batter with the spatula to get it flattened in. Scrape the spatula with your finger. Lick finger.
