This was my project for Canada Day. (For the non-Canadians in the crowd that's July 1st which celebrates the British North America Act of 1867 which united the then-existing colonies into a country). I started it on June 30 and had no hope of finishing it by the next day, and I actually did finish it by the last Wednesday but then I didn't post it. I'm just late everywhere.
Title | Canada Biscornu |
Designer | Antonia |
Start date | June 30, 2014 |
Finish date | July 30, 2014 |
Total time | 10.25 hours |
Fabric | 32 ct white lugana |
Floss | DMC 321 |
I am finding more often DMC shades don't match, they are close but I can't stitch them next to each other, I just have to ensure I always have enough thread before I start my stitching.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty and the design makes a lovely biscornu.I am English but have numerous Canadian relatives. My great grandfather was Canadian.I love the Maple Leaf.
ReplyDeleteYounger son has just landed in London uk after driving over 2000k from Toronto to Halifax..he said it was a fantastic two weeks holiday:-)
Lovely piece for Canada Day sorry to hear you had such trouble with the thread.
ReplyDeleteI love making biscornus...and this is so pretty and bright.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the very cute biscornu finish! I have found the same problem with trying to match DMC colors. I'm in agreement with Marlene, you've go to make sure you have enough floss to finish your project.
ReplyDeleteI've never stitched a bis corny before! Yours is lovely.
ReplyDeleteLovely finish! I think it looks great without the border; the corner leaves look like they're falling over the sides which is really neat :) So sorry to hear you had trouble with DMC; I never had a problem with them in the past but I'm noticing some of the new shades are really off from my old stash, and have heard people say that the change in the dying practices a few years ago has led to a lot of mismatching!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great! And you are just early for next year. ;)
ReplyDeleteLove the biscornu! This is one project, in my amazingly long list, that I really want to give a shot. I might actually keep track of a needle or two!
ReplyDeleteIt's looking great, this patriotic biscornu.
ReplyDeleteGreat project! I'm not Canadian, but I think I'd like to make one.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty. I have had similar problems with DMC in the past. x
ReplyDeletePretty piece of work, nuisance about the colours.
ReplyDeleteThat's really pretty. I would love to stitch a biscornu, it's on my to-do list! I agree that it looks lovely without a border. I've never had any trouble with DMC threads but the ones I have were all purchased in the last couple of years.
