Butterflies in the Stomach

While it's as fun to give as to receive, they never mention that the giving part comes with a truckload of nervous butterflies!

A while back I put out a shout for anyone who wanted to swap a biscornu and Lindsay agreed to be my guinea pig. She already put up pictures ages ago, and I'm finally getting to mine.

A lot of nerves and indecision later I send this off to her:

Which unwrapped to

Should I admit that I entirely unsure of sending the box and put it away a dozen times and hesitated at the post office with a desperate need to rip apart the package and toss it out?
The prize at the bottom of the pile
The design is a freebie from here. It's actually from a set for the four seasons.

Since no mail-related post is complete without CP bashing, this took about 3 weeks to get there. Can we make it official? 3 weeks to send or receive mail from Canada?

In more mundane news, work is going pretty well. It's the exact same thing I was doing over the summer so no learning curve or anything. BUT I get home pretty late and therefore no stitching AT ALL.

I'm pretty sure everyone (and their dog) knows about the Crazy January Challenge and the spinoff Flip'n Crazy January Challenge. I will not be joining either of these. Mostly since I'm not that crazy! But best of luck to everyone playing.

  1. Your biscornu is beautiful and such fun gift wrapping! You didn't need to worry on that score. If you do enough international exchanges, you learn to be patient and love the postal services.

Thanks for the link to the designs. I'd never seen those.

  2. I don't see why you were so worried. Your biscornu is lovely! Just focus on the fun and sharing when you exchange; people aren't looking at your work to be critical. Making new friends is MUCH more fun!

  3. I'm with you on the crazy challenge. I don't want to put pressure on my most loved hobby. I am excited to see results of those who do join though!

  4. Your biscornu is great, Blu! Perfect colors for this time of year.

I'm not joining either challenge--I had enough pressure from this year with trying to get a block a month done on Christmas at HRH!

  7. The biscornu is beautiful and the wrapping too. I have felt the same way and know how it feels, but I think it's awesome.
I am not that crazy for the challenge, I hate the pressure, lol

  8. Pretty work! You are right, Blu, that it is so much pressure sometimes!

My experience with the British Post (Would that be "Her Majesty's Post", lol?) is overall worst than CP...but they are kinda similar, eh?

  9. A lovely biscornu and I know Lindsay liked it. Careful...you will get hooked on exchanging!

I once mailed off two packages on the same day (from the USA) one went to The Netherlands and one, Canada. The one to The Netherlands took TWO DAYS to arrive and it was two weeks for the Canada package. What's up with that? Funny, isn't it?

  10. Maybe we should start our own thing called "We're Not That Crazy" and sit and watch everyone else!

You shouldn't have been nervous - it's a gorgeous biscornu!

    Smiles - Denise

  12. LOL, CP bashing (I'm in for that)! If you noticed Daffycat's comment, i'm the one in Canada that the parcel took forever to get too. I think it's downright disgusting how much they charge us too.

Your biscornu is absolutely lovely and I am sure that Lindsay loved it :)

I suppose I am sort of crazy as I have unofficially challenged myself to stitch some projects next year.

  19. You didn't need to worry I love it and am amazed that you took the trouble to make the box as well.
I'll join in the CP bashing cause yours hasn't arrived yet!

I've signed up for the Flip'n crazy challenge but I've been working on getting my PHD number down for a couple of years now so I thought why not
